Pupil Premium

Pupil premium is an allocation of money given in addition to main school funding.

  • Schools receive pupil premium funding for:

  • All children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM).

  • All children who in the past six years have been eligible for free school meal.

  • All children have been looked after continuously for more than six months by someone other than their immediate family

  • Children have ceased to be looked after by LA in England and Wales because of adoption, a special order, a child arrangement order or a residence order.

  • Service children

It is  up to individual schools to decide how to allocate pupil premium funding since we are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made from the individuals at our school. However, we are held to account and how we have used this funding and the impact it has had.

Sports Premium

The primary PE and sport premium is an allocation of funding to schools to improve the provision of physical education and primary sport across England. The premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

  • Funding is based on the number of pupils in Year 1 -6

  • Schools with 16 if you are eligible pupils receive £1000 per pupil

  • Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive 16,000 an additional payment of £10 per pupil

Schools must use sports premium funding to:

  • Develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers

  • Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure the improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

All schools are accountable for this provision and the Sports premium report detailing Holy Rosary’s  actions can be viewed below.

Catch-up Premium

Following school closure in March 2020, the Government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up. This included a one-off universal £650 million catch-up premium for the academic year 2020-21 to ensure that schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for lost teaching time.

The catch-up premium funding is available for all state-funded mainstream and special schools, and alternative provision.

Funding has been allocated on a per pupil basis, providing £80 for each pupil in years reception through to 6.

Schools have the flexibility to spend their funding in the order to support the children in their own school settings.
