Sacramental Programme

Here at Holy Rosary School, we continue to join with St Patrick’s for the Sacramental Programme. Fr Phil comes down to school to deliver the Parents/Childrens’ meetings and then the children attend the celebration Masses at our parish Church – Our Lady and St Patrick, Oldham. There is a planned programme which sets out all the dates, times and places for the meetings and celebrations.
During the academic year 2019 – 2020, 18 children from Holy Rosary School enrolled to take part in the Sacramental Programme. (There was a combined total of 39 children on the programme). On Saturday 30th November, the children on the Sacramental Programme received their Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Sadly, due to the current Coronavirus situation, the Sacramental Programme has had to be put on hold for the foreseeable future.

Please continue to pray for these children who should have received the Sacrament of Holy Communion last May – and those children who should have enrolled on their Sacramental Programme journey this year.

FIRST COMMUNIONS

The final session of the First Communion programme, which was meant to conclude last May, will now take place in St. Patrick’s Church on Saturday 26th June at 10am. We would hope to celebrate the First Communions at 3pm on Sunday 27th June at St. Patrick’s Church at 3pm. This is, of course, if the planned opening up of society takes place on 21st June.

*** FURTHER UPDATE from Fr Phil  – 28th December 2020 ***

The Deanery Sacramental programme was put on hold because of Covid-19.
First Communion: The children who were almost prepared for the first communion before Covid struck will hopefully make their communion in June 2021. We will need one refresher session before they make their communion. We’ll then try to start the sessions for the next group from June 2021.

FIRST COMMUNIONS AND CONFIRMATIONS:
I think it’s only fair to say that the First communions that our children and their parents prepared for up until March of this year, will not be taking place till after February of next year. And I doubt if the preparation for the next group will begin before the end of February. The same is true for those who wish to be confirmed. Sorry, but Covid 19 has effectively put a spanner in the works!
