RSHE
At Holy Rosary RC Primary School, our RSHE curriculum is rooted in the Gospel teachings, with Catholic values at the heart of all we do. Guided by the principle of "what would Jesus do?", we aim to develop independent, emotionally-aware citizens who can build positive relationships and challenge social injustices.
Key Aims
Our RHSE curriculum seeks to:
- Ensure children understand a range of emotions and develop positive strategies for emotional well-being
- Teach children about the characteristics of healthy, positive relationships
- Empower children to become active, questioning citizens who can identify and challenge deep-rooted societal beliefs
Content and Skills
Through our progressive, three-module RSHE curriculum (created and loved by God, created to love others, created to live in community), we will equip children with the knowledge and skills to:
- Recognise and manage their own emotions
- Develop empathy and respect for others
- Understand the importance of positive relationships
- Identify and challenge social injustices
- Uphold British values such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect
Progression
Our RSHE curriculum builds sequentially from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2, ensuring children's learning is coherent and progressive. Each module begins with a focus on Religious Education, reinforcing the Catholic ethos at the heart of our school. Assessment is ongoing, with teachers recording children's progress on our tracking system.
Wider Impact
By delivering a robust, values-driven RSHE curriculum, we aim to support the overall development of our children, preparing them to become confident, resilient, and socially-conscious citizens of the future. This aligns with our school's mission to provide an inclusive education that meets the needs of our diverse community.
